Serpent Line - Mixed Metals

The Serpent Line appeared recently in my work. It began when I started working with small fragments of gold and silver left from earlier pieces. I began playing with them. Trying forms. One piece led to another, and the line slowly took shape.

When I work on a Serpent piece, I feel curious and excited. I don’t fully know where it will lead, and that is exactly the point. The process feels open and experimental. I’m paying attention to how gold and silver can balance each other, how they can take place together without competing, how they can support each other visually and how they can exist together in a stable way.

I've always been drawn to the form of the snake. Its long spine, its continuous movement, and the way it bends and adapts. The idea of shedding skin and renewing itself again and again, something natural and ever ongoing.

This line is simply moving away from working with one metal at a time. It is the fusion of materials I used to separate in my mind to exist together in the same object.

Within the Material Lines, the Serpent Line feels like a pause rather than an ending. A place where grounding, inward focus, and outward presence come together and start to move freely between each other.

I don’t see this line as fixed or complete. It is flexible by nature. It allows curiosity, variation, and change. These pieces won’t speak to everyone, but for those who feel drawn to them, that curiosity and movement will probably feel familiar.
